Yankee Candle Lemongrass and Ginger scented candle Review

Yankee Candle Lemongrass and Ginger is a new scent from Yankee and it came out as a part of their Spring My Serenity collection. I got and tried all of the new scents but only in tart form.

The official scent notes in Yankee Candle Lemongrass and Ginger are: lemongrass, ginger.

The reason I continue to buy Yankee with the flood of both new mainstream and indie home fragrance makers, is because they can still do a simple, two note fragrance and make it smell high end. There are no surprises in this fragrance. The lemongrass note dominates, it’s fresh and lemony without being acidic, you get the green note and then there’s the perfect fresh ginger Yankee does so well. The ginger note is pretty much the same they used in their Ginger Dusk candle which is one of my all time favorite fresh ginger scents.

Lemon and lemongrass scents can be tricky to fall in love with in a fragrance. There are just so many soaps, detergents and cleaners that have a lemon scent that those tend to be our first association when we get whiffs of lemon in a room. But of you associate lemon scents with a clean and fresh house, it shouldn’t be an issue and it’s not for me.

Lemongrass is an issue for me though. I tend to connect the smell directly with Thai food, specifically soups and curry which I used to make (and eat) all the time. Pair it with ginger, and I’m in the kitchen, making a delicious soup. And while I like the scent itself, I really dislike it when my house smells like food – if the food isn’t on the table or cooking on the stove. So I’ve already passed the rest of my tart on to people who don’t have my odd food smell hang ups.

The scent throw on a third of the tart was an 8 and it scented my office in 10 minutes.

Yankee Candle Moonlight scented candle Review

Yankee Candle Moonlight is a part of the My Serenity collection that came out in Europe this year. The other scents from the same collection are My Serenity, Peony and Lemongrass and Ginger.

The official scent notes in Yankee Candle Moonlight are: bamboo, woody notes and bergamot

This is a masculine scent and it’s pretty much what I expect from a Yankee Candle fragrance with a “nighttime” theme. The bergamot and wood notes give it a cologne feel but it’s greener than some other cologne scents from Yankee. It has a similar feeling to Village Candle Black Bamboo but that one is more intense and darker while this would be the day version of the fragrance.

If you want to freshen it up (like I did), throw some lime notes in the mix, it works well.

The scent throw on a third of the tart was an 8 and it scented my office in 10 minutes.

Yankee Candle My Serenity is a new scent from Yankee for Spring  in Europe and the first one I tried from the collection.

The official scent notes in Yankee Candle My Serenity are: warm pear, orange, tropical flowers and soft musk.

I was expecting something quite different from the scent description than what this actually smells like. I get a fruit mix, quite sweet, with some melon and orange. I also get the perfume type vanilla and a faint floral mix, softened my light musk. The musk really blends it all together so I find it hard to pin point specific notes but it’s much fruitier than floral and there’s a definite sweetness to it.

If you like Yankee Candle Pink Sands, this is very close, with a bit more emphasis on the fruit notes.

The scent throw on a third of the tart was an 8 and it scented my office in 10 minutes.

Yankee Candle Peony scented candle Review

Yankee Candle Peony came out in Europe this Spring as a part of the My Serenity collection together with My Serenity, Lemongrass and Ginger and Moonlight.

The official scent notes in Yankee Candle Peony are: peony.

This is a fresh floral that fits pretty well in the whole “fresh spring” theme of the collection. I have a couple of old school peony bushes in my garden and a large bouquet of those babies can scent my whole small bathroom. Not all of them smell the same and the newer varieties aren’t as potent but in general, I guess I could say the scent is in the same vein as heritage roses but less mature and less peppery.

You have to like florals in general and rose scents in particular in order to like Peony. There’s no fear of “old lady perfume” in this fragrance but as with most straight up florals, this is very feminine.

The scent throw on a third of the tart was a 7 and it scented my office in 15 minutes.

I’d burn this is April and May and I’d pair it with a watery, ozone fragrance to lighten and freshen it up.

I hope you enjoyed my Yankee Candle  UK My Serenity Collection review and I’ll talk to you soon!
