Yankee Candle Lemon Drop Cookie is a 2017 new addition to the Cookie Swap Collection that came out last year.
One of my favorite scented candles of all time and one I always keep in my stash is Village Candle Lemon Pound Cake. I had high hopes for Lemon Drop Cookie, thinking it could be a sweeter, less cake and more cookie version of the epic Village candle.
After burning Yankee Candle Lemon Drop Cookie for a couple of days now, I can say Yankee missed the mark for me on this one. The sugar cookie part is fine. Yankee does a nice sugar cookie scent that they use often enough and with good reason, since they figured out a well balanced mix of butter, sugar and a bit of vanilla that doesn’t smell burned or like a generic sugared vanilla candle. My issue is with the lemon note used in this scented candle. Yankee does a Sicilian Lemon fragrance that has the most amazing sweetened lemon smell and I burned through 4 jars and a bunch of votives of that this year. I was certain they’ll just blend that scent with their sugar cookie smell and they’ll have a win. What they went with though, is the lemon note they use in their Sage and Citrus candle. While it works well there with the herbal sage base, it reads far too chemically in this candle.
It actually smells like I cleaned the kitchen with a lemon scented cleaner and then started baking sugar cookies. It’s not bad at all, don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing wrong with the notes individually and nothing wrong with my house smelling clean and like cookies at the same time. But for it being a lemon cookie candle, it doesn’t work because the lemon note is not foody enough and just doesn’t blend in well.
I hope you enjoyed my Yankee Candle Lemon Drop Cookie review!
