Yankee Candle Hot Buttered Rum is a returning scent for this winter 2017 season. This was out in 2012 and that’s when I first tried it. It was super strong, scented the entire floor of my house with a scent throw of a strong 9.
Yankee Candle Hot Buttered Rum should be named something else in my opinion. Based on the name I expected a boozy, creamy drink type of a scent but this is more of a candy, hot caramel fragrance.
Yankee Candle Hot Buttered Rum smells like butterscotch candy with an undertone of rum. The rum note is quite secondary here. The main component of the fragrance is caramel or rather buttery brown sugar with sweet vanilla.
I’m not a huge caramel or brown sugar fan but I love the scent of rum so I’d buy this again for the rum note if the scent overall wouldn’t be so strong. The intensity paired with the heavy caramel though is a guaranteed headache for me, so I’ll be passing on Yankee Candle Hot Buttered Rum this year.
I hope you enjoyed my Yankee Candle Hot Buttered Rum returning scent 2017 review!
