Yankee Candle Christmas Holiday 2018 Collection is a nice bunch of classic christmas fragrances. I can see anyone finding at least one candle in this collection that will fit their holiday.
Yankee Candle Holiday Lights is one of the least seasonal smelling candles in the Holiday 2018 collection.
Yankee Candle Holiday Lights smells like a floral perfume. I smell the jasmine and ozone, wrapped in white musk over a sweet praline base. It smells somewhat like La Vie est Belle perfume and while I enjoy wearing that one I still feel odd using it to scent my house. Whenever I burn a perfume or cologne candle I feel like I walked into a room where someone went way too heavy on their perfume and that’s not the feeling I generally want to have in my house.
My personal preference aside though, Yankee Candle Holiday Lights is a nice fragrance, especially for everyday. I don’t find it seasonal at all so if you need something to clear your nose from all the pine and spice, this might work for you.
Yankee Candle Holiday Shimmer is one of the conceptual candles for the Holiday 2018 collection.
With the conceptual candles, Yankee Candle usually goes the perfume route and Yankee Candle Holiday Shimmer is no exception. It smells like an unisex perfume. We have the musk, the powder, some herbal leaning florals like geranium and verbena and some citrus notes. There’s a faint mint overlay but it’s a very herbal mint so it blends into the florals well. There was supposed to be a champagne note but I get no effervescence and no fruits.
Yankee Candle Winter Wonder is one of the candles that are available in both European/UK and USA Holiday 2018 collection.
Yankee Candle Winter Wonder smells like mint in the top notes with citrus and vanilla mixture in the middle. The base is a soft woody balsam but you almost have to look for it, it’s so well blended into the other notes. Yankee Candle Winter Wonder is a very blended, very complex scent. It’s quite hard to pick out the individual notes except for the ones I’ve mentioned but I feel like there’s a lot more stuff thrown in here that I can’t pinpoint.
Yankee Candle Winter Wonder is that rare candle that is super complex but doesn’t smell like people perfume. It manages to stay firmly in the home fragrance category and I really appreciate that. It’s also totally inoffensive to anyone who doesn’t mind mint. No florals here, nothing heavy, you can light it up without worrying about your guests.
Yankee Candle Icy Blue Spruce is a new version of a classic Christmas tree fragrance. It’s a good version, the pine note is not too intense, it’s a very fresh, clean scent but manages to be nothing like a pine scented cleaning product.
Yankee Candle Icy Blue Spruce smells like berries and lime over a fresh balsam and spearmint base. While I’m not a huge fan of pine fragrances this one is well balanced, guest friendly and has enough fruity notes to take it from natural to holiday themed scent.
Yankee Candle Sugar Frost Christmas is the most versatile gourmand fragrance in the Christmas Holiday 2018 collection. This is a good candle to have on hand even throughout the year because it’s one of those scents that work really well as a blender fragrance when you play around with scent layering.
Yankee Candle Sugar Frost Christmas smells like a nice vanilla cake. There’s the baking note that we all want in a cake scent, it’s not just raw cake batter. I can also smell sugar and vanilla and some marshmallow.
Yankee Candle Sugar Frost Christmas is a pretty basic scent all things considered. It’s pretty much a vanilla cake but it’s done really well. I love scents like this in a collection because I know I’ll be able to play around with so many different combinations.
Yankee Candle Snow dusted Bayberry Leaf is a new take on the bayberry scent from Yankee Candle.
They currently have 3 bayberry themed candles out. There’s Holiday Bayberry, Williamsburg Bayberry and Yankee Candle Snow dusted Bayberry Leaf. All three are different, there’s no repackaging going on here.
In Yankee Candle Snow dusted Bayberry Leaf I smell the tart berry top note but this is mostly a herbal and mint mixture. It’s an overall green, natural scent with a lot of leafy, herbal notes, dominated by fresh mint that gives it that wintery vibe. The fruity berry note is faint and there’s a sweetness from the vanilla underlining everything and making it a bit softer and less sharp and harsh. Apart from the mint it doesn’t say “Christmas”to me, but it’s such a good candle to have on hand for the season because it’s so fresh and natural smelling it’s a good multitasker. It will work in a bathroom as well as the kitchen and a hallway. It will not clash with any potential food scents and it’s mellow enough not to give people headaches.
Yankee Candle Snow dusted Bayberry Leaf layers well with pine and vanilla candles, I like it with plum scents and love with anything lemon and lime scented.
