I love burning melon scented candles during the summer. I’ve tried and burned a lot of various melon and/or watermelon scented candles and I figured I’d list my all-time favorite melon scented candles that are still available to purchase.
7 best melon scented candles
- Village Candle Summer Slices
- Yankee Candle Waikiki Melon
- Village Candle Juicy Melon
- Drogerie Markt (Profissimo) Melon and Peach
- Flamingo Candles Cucumber and Melon
- Ewa Lovely Melon
- Yankee Candle Honeydew Melon
Ewa Lovely Melon scented candle was found at my local store. It’s a small jar candle the size and look of a small Yankee Candle jar. It has one wick. I opened it in the store for a cold sniff and saw that the Ewa Lovely Melon was swimming in fragrance oils. I mean the wick was practically in a puddle of oil. The scent was amazing, pure and completely true to life melon so I picked it up.
I couldn’t find any info on Ewa Lovely Melon. Burning, Ewa Lovely Melon smells like the most amazing ripe melon. It’s straight up melon scent, no other undertones.
For a small jar candle, the scent throw was very strong. It burned fine, I got a nice wax pool in about an hour and it scented my kitchen well. I would rate the scent throw as 7.
Ewa Lovely Melon scented candle is going straight to my favorite melon scented candles list. It cost about 4 EUR, so less than half the price of a small Yankee Candle jar.
Flamingo Candles Cucumber and Melon scented wax was a part of my first Flamingo Candles Haul. I heard a lot of great things about Flamingo Candles and I’m very happy with the products I’ve tried so far. I just finished my Village Candle Summer Slices and I enjoyed the cucumber and watermelon notes in that so much that I figured I should just go on with that scent combination.
The official notes in Flamingo Candles Cucumber and Melon scented wax are: Fresh and invigorating, Cucumber and Melon is a green floral fragrance with cucumber skin and watery notes of refreshing melon on the top. Supported by a rich floral accord of rose, lily and cyclamen enhanced by fruity, peach musk accents.
The Flamingo Candles Cucumber and Melon is a complex scent as you can see from the official notes description. The complexity is not lost when you melt the wax tart. First I got the sweetness of the melon and the watery fresh smell of a freshly peeled cucumber. I grow a ton of cucumbers in my garden and they’re in full season now so cucumber salad and cucumber water and a daily thing on my menu. The cucumber note in Flamingo Candles Cucumber and Melon is very true to life. I also get the floral undertones. I couldn’t really distinguish the rose scent but I could smell the lily and the whole fragrance is mellowed by the musk accent. I love musk notes in fruity fragrances because they soften everything a bit and you get a “fragrance” rather than a “smell”.
Overall I love the Flamingo Candles Flamingo Candles Cucumber and Melon scent. It’s fresh and interesting and I’ll most likely get a couple more wax melts in my next Flamingo Candles haul.
My Flamingo Candles Flamingo Candles Cucumber and Melon scented wax tart is strong, I use a third of the tart in my wax warmer and the scent filled up my living room in about half an hour. Flamingo candles claim their tarts will give scent for 30 hours. I could smell my third of the tart for about 20 hours and then I switched it. So if you’re like me and don’t want super strong fragrance you’ll bet about 60 hours of fragrance from one tart which is pretty amazing.
The Flamingo Candles wax tarts or rather wax melts cost 2 GBP each, they offer reasonable international shipping and I got them here.
The scented candles that can be found at the drugstore chain DM-Drogerie Markt haven’t been updated since the beginning of this past winter but today I saw a new scent on the shelf called Melon and Peach. It might just be new for my local DM but I definitely never saw this one before.
The Profissimo scented candles come in clear glass jar and have one wick. The burn time on these is 35 hours and the throw is light but the glass is very small. The throw is about a 3 so you’ll need two for a medium sized room. If you keep it on a coffee table and you sit next to it, you’ll be able to smell it fine.
I was expecting a pretty straight up melon and fake peach scent but it’s actually much better and more complex than that. It smells like melon, peach candy, fresh vanilla and underlined with a very pretty citrusy floral note.
If you feel like amping it up you can, of course, pair with a fruit scent, melon or lemon. If you want to play more with it, it works really well with a white floral scent. I paired it with Yankee’s gardenia fragrance and really enjoyed it.
Yankee Candle Waikiki Melon scented candle is one of my favorite melon scented candles and I love burning it during summer. It’s second only to the Ewa Lovely Melon scented candle. The Ewa candle is fresher, juicier and purer melon scent while the Yankee Waikiki Melon is a bit less juicy and therefore more dimmed melon scent.
The official notes in Yankee Candle Waikiki Melon are: melon, orange.
I definitely get the tropical melon, I also get a faint whiff of orange but it’s mostly not overly ripe melon scent. Sweet and summery.
My medium jar version of Yankee Candle Waikiki Melon burns clean and even in my luminary, I get a nice wax pool after about two hours and the throw is about 6. I burn this in my kitchen and outside on the deck if we decide to eat outside. For outside, I need to jars of Waikiki Melon burning at the same time to get a decent amount of scent.
The votives in this scent are stronger than the candle and I only melt a third of a votive at a time for it to lightly scent my kitchen.
Slatkin Homeworx Summer Collection
Slatkin Homeworx scented candles are currently the most talked about candles in the online wax community. I can’t get them in Europe, they are sold via QVC in USA. The reviews I’ve seen so far have been really positive. People, in general, seem to really enjoy the candles, from what I’ve heard they get sold out fairly quickly.
The whole line has a very “Bath and Bodys Works candles” feeling to me. There’s a lot of emphasis on rather elaborate packaging and various candle accessories and the candles themselves look pretty much like BBW candles.
But the selling point on these are the promised more sophisticated, grown up fragrances. I haven’t tried any yet since it’s a whole thing trying to get them in EU but they sound interesting. Of course, BBW candles are not my thing, I can’t get into their scents at all and they are too strong for me so I’m in no hurry here.
